Stuart Mitton

Having worked for 15 years in the automotive industry to Senior Management level with Rolls-Royce & Bentley Motor Cars. Stuart has developed a vast knowledge, understanding, and ability to  practically apply expertise in lean tools & techniques and leadership behaviors used in the Toyota Production System both in Production and Office environments. Stuart is a result focused and commercially aware individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Consulting Experience

 

Stuart’s multi-sector experiences spreading over 25 years in lean and production systems development provided him opportunities to work in Aerospace, Formula 1, Pottery and Ceramics,  Paper and Print, Plastics, Food and Drink, Construction and Public sector environments. This has provided a solid background for leading operational improvements through the entire value stream, in many cases, worldwide – from product design and development, supply chain development, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, sales, and after-sales support. During  his  career,  Stuart also led a team of Lean practitioners delivering the North  West  Manufacturing  Advisory  Service [MAS] and was instrumental in the collaboration and development of the Scottish MAS and Ceramic Industry Forum.

 

Stuart has a strong track record of eliminating waste across both Service and Manufacturing Operations. Stuart has been instrumental in the design and delivery of over 100 Lean academy programmes with a major UK food retailer, a similar number of academies for the UK’s Largest rail infrastructure maintenance organisation  and is the Lean Leadership coach for The Aerospace Productivity programme, Sharing in Growth. Experienced at deployment of the Toyota Production System principles, KATA coaching, and Leadership behaviours to drive sustainable performance improvement, Stuart quickly adapts to the clients needs and provides a healthy challenge to organisational practices and thinking, whilst coaching teams to achieve exceptional results.

 

Management Experience

 

With over 15 years experience in Senior Management roles, including Marketing and Brand Manager at Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor cars, Group Operations Director at a large commercial Print organisation and Sector Team Leader at the MAS. Stuart, has developed a Production operations system for a Knowsley based plastic colorant business that saw productivity improve by over 300% without additional headcount. This system was rolled out across five other facilities globally, delivering similar results.

 

The creation of three distinct Value Streams for a Stoke on Trent based Ceramics manufacturer, saw service levels improve to 100% OTIF whilst reducing finished goods inventory by over £500k. Work with the Highways agency on a major renewals project creating daily performance management targets and a visual management centre, saw arrears eradicated and the project catch back a significant delay on the project within just twelve weeks.
